Sometimes when we think of typical log cabins our minds drift to mountain dwellings: Large open spaces to spend time with friends and family while on vacation. But this isn’t always the case. Cabins and smaller log houses can make excellent permanent homes with all the features and fittings you need in order to live a comfortable life.
This well-designed log home by Recreational Resort Cottages and Cabins has much to offer – large open spaces and excellent sized rooms throughout. Free standing and slightly raised from the ground on stilts, this wonderful one-story log cabin is both aesthetically pleasing from the inside and out. The Cowboy II is a well thought-out family home. With plenty of windows and a large entrance deck to invite you in, the cabins itself is very spacious. Let's take a look inside...
I’m sure you’ll agree that this huge living area is just what a family needs from a home. The open plan kitchen-dining space - which spreads into the beautiful minimalist living room - is an impressive sight. The soaring high ceilings are far from what is usually expected of a cabin.
Despite being open plan, there is definitely a distinct living space with comfortable sofas and warm colored furnishings that fit perfectly within this compact log cabin. Look how much light the enormous windows let in! Imagine the wonderful views which these could capture!
A home wouldn’t be a home without a cozy fire to light up during winter. Built within a gorgeous stone feature wall, the addition of a focal fireplace gives a cozy and warm feel to this living room despite the high ceilings. Plenty of space for large furniture for all the family, this wonderful spacious room never feels overcrowded.
Moving into the kitchen/dining area, we can see how it feels separate from the living area despite the open plan design of the cabin. Having said that, there is plenty of continuity throughout – that natural stone used as a surround to the delightful fireplace in the living room is featured here too, within the additional breakfast bar. The Cowboy II really does have everything!
This log cabin boasts an enormous kitchen space. There is an abundance of storage – beautifully designed in a light rustic wood which perfectly complements the stunning polished flooring. The Cowboy II includes all modern fixtures and fittings – we love the preparation island in the center of the kitchen, seamlessly dividing up the large area. Next to the kitchen is a separate utility room so that your appliances can stay out of the kitchen altogether.
The dining room also looks out onto the outdoor porch with an entrance door providing access to the interior of the house on those days you fancy barbecuing outside. Bright and airy, this creates a perfect space to enjoy summer meals with friends and family.
Did you ever think a free-standing cabin like this could be so practical? The Cowboy II enjoys 3 very good-sized bedrooms, all with large built-in wardrobes for your convenience. The master bedroom has the added advantage of a large, fully equipped en-suite bathroom. There certainly won’t be arguments over the shower in the morning in this incredible log home! Natural color furnishings against the lovely light wooden paneled walls really add to the calm atmosphere of this bedroom.
Both bathrooms in the house have all modern appliances including large round bathtubs. They are impeccably designed to match the rest of the house with the same bright wooden features, paneled walls and gorgeous darker polished flooring.
