This custom-built home has the perfect location - and the interior is to die for

One of the wonderful features of log homes is the fact they can be placed in the perfect location to capture the gorgeous scenery of rural America. Some prefer to overlook the sea or a lake, whilst others prefer the quiet peace of mountains and woodlands. Whatever your dream, a log home can often be the best way of realizing it.
Today we are going to explore a custom-built log home in rural Shelbyville, Tennessee, known as the Royer Project. This beautiful home is based on the Belmont floor plan by StoneMill Log & Timber Homes, offering three bedrooms and two bathrooms over 1,550 square feet.

This two-story home features a gorgeous combination of wood and stone to perfectly blend into the natural surroundings. The three dormers along the roof ensure the interior benefits from plenty of natural light.
Located just an hour from vibrant Nashville, this beautiful wooden house sits in an incredibly nature-rich area, with open fields and abundant woodlands. How amazing is this location!
Immediately after stepping inside the house your first impressions are of the incredible open concept living room. The cathedral ceiling makes the room very airy, whilst the dormer in the roof adds to the already abundant natural light. The rustic stone fireplace anchors the house and is perfect for relaxing evenings with the family.
The kitchen area is ample-sized, yet is fully equipped with everything you need to feed a modern American family. The stone island adds a nice contrast to the ever-present wood and acts as a natural divider to the living room.
The open floor plan is complete with a dedicated dining room area that can easily fit a large table for entertaining friends and family. The glass doors lead to a large porch making it easy to dine outdoors or simply let the cool breeze into your house.
The Belmont has two generously-spaced bedrooms on the ground floor which have a lot of closet space and can easily fit your rugged, rustic furniture. Both bedrooms have glass doors which open out onto the front and rear porches.
The Belmont has two full bathrooms: one on the ground floor and one upstairs. In this custom model, the owners have opted for a large shower rather than a bath. The finishes are exquisite; I love the bowl-style sink and the antique pump tap - they really make this room!
The wood used to construct this gorgeous home is of the finest quality, with polished hardwood floors which accentuate the grain in the timber. Let's take a look upstairs...
The third bedroom in the upstairs of the house is a light-lovers dream. The room benefits from large windows, a dormer, and the air-filled cathedral ceiling. It is a spacious room that could easily be adapted into an office, a children's playroom, or a second living room.
The upstairs is completed with a nice loft space which overlooks the main living area of the house. In this custom model, the owners have decided to make it a quiet and private sitting space.
No log home would be complete without a porch to sit, relax, and enjoy the incredible panoramic views - and what a view! Rural America at its best!
As previously mentioned, the model featured is a modified version of the Belmont floor plan, which can be explored below.
