Tour this incredible winter retreat: The porch out back has a great secret

Large log homes have always been associated with winter wonderlands – tucked up in the mountains and filled with enthusiastic skiers looking for solace after a day in the snow. But what do we need from these winter vacation homes? Plenty of storage for equipment and bulky clothing, an abundance of beds for large parties, and intimate spaces to enjoy the typical nights ‘après-ski’. We’ve found a home that offers all of that…
The Country Cubco by Beaver Mountain Log and Cedar Homes was built with a very distinct purpose in mind – a dream home in the mountains fit for any large family of skiers. This two-story abode has 2,348 square feet of living space, which includes 3 big bedrooms, two bathrooms, a wonderful outdoor porch area, and an additional recreational space with extra built-in bunk beds. Curious to see inside? Let’s take a look…

Built using a warm, medium-red cedar, Country Cubco is quite a sight hidden between the trees of the stunning surrounding countryside. The large imposing front window provides guests with a spectacular view as well as letting in plenty of the low winter sun.
Boasting a full entrance vestibule to shake off the snow, the whole ground floor of this impeccably decorated home is open plan. The focal point of the beautiful living room is certainly the huge natural log fire – great to huddle around on those chilly nights. The room is bright and airy due to the numerous windows and doors which lead onto the outdoor deck that hugs the whole front side of the cabin.
Between the living room and kitchen is a wonderful dining area, large enough for a huge table to seat all of your family and guests. The dark wood table matches perfectly with the polished floors which run through the whole ground floor of this special winter retreat.
This exquisite kitchen is a wonderful juxtaposition of modern and traditional. Keeping the same characteristic light wood finish, this room is topped off with a stunning dark stone feature wall. We love the modern touches and the long breakfast bar – a great extra space for children to eat if there is no more room at the dining room table.
Country Cubco certainly does not lack sleeping quarters. All three of the distinctly decorated double bedrooms are a good size, with the added feature of built-in closets. The downstairs master bedroom also has access to an outdoor porch - a wonderful spot to sip on your early morning coffee.
One of the best things about this incredible log home is the number of welcome relaxation spots to wind down in after a long day skiing on the mountain. One such magical space is in the upper loft area, open to the great room below.
Imagine one of those skiing trips with various families under the same roof – where do the children sleep? Well, there is no need to worry in Country Cubco. Built-in bunk beds provide plenty of extra sleeping space for children and adults alike. There is even another huge L-shaped sofa to relax on and under-bed storage.
Last, but certainly not least, we bring you to the highlight of this incredible log home in the mountains. Can you imagine sitting up here on this superb porch in the cold, snuggled around an open fire? We can’t think of anything more romantic…
