Don’t miss out on The Victorian: The gorgeously designed bedrooms are a must-see

Wonderful log homes come in all shapes and sizes, but there is one thing that is common in all – that feeling of being more at one with nature. It could have to do with the creative use of wood structures, or even the way they remind us of an America of the past. Whatever the reason, there’s something quite eco-friendly about these special homes that appeals directly to log home enthusiasts far and wide.
The Victorian by Van Isle EcoLog Homes has taken the idea of being ecological to the next level. Despite its 2,700 square feet of living space, designers have used space efficiently to create a compact design, resulting in a lower economic and ecological footprint. The square footage is spread effectively over three stories – the basement, main and loft floor. Should we take a tour?

Built in Central Saanich, British Columbia, Canada, this stunning log home is striking from the outside. The contrast of the brickwork on the lower basement goes perfectly with the medium-dark cedar wood exterior and sloping red roof. The symmetrical shed dormers not only provide more space internally but also give the home a traditional, country-log-home look.
The main floor comprises of a huge open-plan living, dining and kitchen area, and office/extra bedroom and bathroom. Despite the size of this great room, it manages to remain cozy and appealing with half partition walls dividing up the space beautifully. There is also a second living area in the basement; both are warmly decorated in neutral colors and provide plenty of space for large sofas and comfortable chairs.
The dining room is bright and airy due to the large wide window and huge patio doors that open onto the outdoor porch. This is a perfect layout for summer dining on the deck with access directly to the kitchen/dining area. The flooring throughout this main level of the house is a medium polished wood – just lovely!
As with the living room, there are also two kitchens in this incredible home; it’s almost as if the basement acts as an independent living area – perfect when guests are visiting or if you have relatives living with you. Both kitchens are decorated with fresh white cupboards, modern metallic appliances, and dark marble countertops.
The Victorian boasts three bathrooms, one for each story, simply decorated with white fittings, silver appliances, and neutral mauve-painted walls. Even in these rooms, the wooden paneling is used as a decorative feature, creating continuity throughout this large home.
We absolutely love the unique layout of these bedrooms tucked into the shed dormers in the roof. Including the basement bedrooms, the Victorian offers 6 double bedrooms, the majority featuring built-in closet space. You definitely won’t be short of sleeping space for a large family here!
This huge log home offers plenty of outdoor space, whether to enjoy with family and friends on the porch or for quiet morning reflection on your bedroom balcony. We love how both sides of the third story have a cute balcony built between the classic triangular roof.
