Cumberland by the Amish Cabin Co. offers 2 lofts with central shared space

If you're one of those people who's been carried away by the urge to essentialize everything in your life down to the basics, you might want to take a peek at this do-it-yourself log cabin from the Amish Cabin Co
You read that last line correctly. Just like the Lincoln Logs of yesteryear, when you buy the Cumberland log cabin kit, you get only the raw materials. "Unloading of kit is responsibility of customer," says the Amish Cabin Co. website. It adds, "A fork lift is recommended for larger cabin sizes."

Once you get a hold of that forklift, you're good to go. The cabin comes with a center porch, a couple of insulated windows, an entry door made of solid pine, an insulated glass loft (with a railing, the site notes), a ladder and a loft window. There's also an insulated metal roof, a bucket of stain (one coat's worth), and, the best part of the whole thing, easy-to-understand instructions and all necessary materials, including screws and caulk.
Do you hate put-it-together-yourself furniture? If you do, this house isn't for you because when you bring home the Cumberland you're basically making yourself the master architect on a massive IKEA-type building project. Don't take this lightly.
If you can manage to put this thing together, however, it's not too shabby. Two lofts provide a good deal of sleeping room, and the wood interior is natural-looking. Below is a video walk-through of a fully-constructed Cumberland. Take a look and see what you think.
